Résumé
Los retos políticos, sociales, económicos y ambientales, causados por el calentamiento global, están acelerando vertiginosamente la capacidad de las actuales formas de democracia de adaptarse a dicho fenómeno. Del mismo modo, las consecuencias de las políticas públicas que deberían ser empleadas contra el cambio climático implicarán un gran cambio en nuestras sociedades y en las condiciones de vida de la gran mayoría si queremos que sean efectivas. Para evitar el peor de los escenarios catastróficos relacionados con el calentamiento global será necesaria una inmediata y sostenida movilización mundial sin precedentes en la historia; este es el reto que se le presenta a la acción climática. En definitiva, si el cambio climático representa el desafío más urgente de las democracias modernas; lo que se pretende abordar en este trabajo es cómo y de qué tipo son las organizaciones y movimientos que harán de la participación ciudadana una herramienta necesaria para construir políticas públicas con respaldo social orientadas hacia la descarbonización de la sociedad y la adaptación a nuevos escenarios derivados de cambios ya inevitables
