Schopenhauer y la fisiología trascendental de la percepción: Interpretación general, crítica y defensa

Abstract

Arthur Schopenhauer used to introduce himself as the only post kantian philosopher to remain loyal to kantian philosophical findings. He accepted the transcendental ideality of the phaenomenon as shown by Kant’s pure analysis and complemented kantian philosophy with an empiric theory of knowledge, i.e. a physiology of perception. In this paper we present such theory in its fundamental form. Our start point is the reductio ab absurdum of the scientific and common sense materialistic thesis, which serves to introduce a transcendental idealistic consideration of representation and an appropriate theory of perception. We then analyze the problem of the reality of the external world, the mind-body problem, and the distinction between sensible and perceptual properties of intuitive representations. Finally, we analyze the present validity of transcendental physiology of perception as a philosophical theory.
