Abstract
This article depicts some of Alain Badiou’s ideas on Contemporary Art, Marcel Duchamp playing a key role in order to grasp properly the transition between Modern and Contemporary Art (or modernity and postmodernity). The critical remarks addressed by Badiou to Contemporary Art ought to be understood as arising from his Affirmationist Manifesto. Art should, again, embody a truth procedure (coming from an event), away from defining as a negative definition of itself.
