Abstract
In this paper I present the fundamental lines of a phenomenology of the expression taking as a starting point the developments of Edith Stein on the subject. In fact, the living own body (Leib) occupies an important place in its first woks, in special in his doctoral thesis Zum Problem der Einfhülung. The body it’s directly linked to the problem of empathy maintains an essential bond whit the vital phenomena, whit feelings at different levels and all this appears manifest in the phenomenon of expression. The body expresses, but how is this phenomenon possible? What constituent elements of the person are at stake in the phenomenon of expression? How important is this phenomenon for a profound approach to intersubjectivity mediated or founded on the experiences of the others? Is there any relationship between the phenomenon of expression and the personal individuality?
