Abstract
Topology accompanies us in our everyday life but
also in art. The relations hip between topology and
art is clear, especially in MC Escher’s stair ways
and architecture, impossible because tangled, in his
stream sowing in complete freedom and lightness,
although blatantly aunting the physical laws of
gravity and mechanical energy, in hispolyhedralde
compositions and subdivisions of surfaces, availing
of simultaneous geometrical shapes, simple and
organized in networks, and also in his landscapes
and non-Euclidean globes. What we now perceive
as a component of our everyday lives, has
undergone a lengthy evolution and given a
powerful impulse to modern mathematics, yielding
an increasing wealth of applications in chemistry,
physics and medicine, to name only the most
prominent. For science, a dialogue featuring
topology would mean contextualizing the
millennial discussion and the insights regarding the
geometrical postulates, especially the fifth axiom of
Euclidian geometry, which have resulted in the
perfectly coherent construction of non-Euclidean
geometries.
