Abstract

This paper explains the negative effects that pieces of art experience in the current context of aestheticization. From the aesthetic thinking of Benjamin, Adorno, Debord, Baudrillard, Welsh, Lipovetsky and Vilar, the degradation and neutralisation of art in the context of aestheticization are analyzed. It points out the proposal of these authors to remove art from its current impasse and restrain the superfluous and degradation of art as a decorative object. In conclusion Gerard Vilar's proposal offers a way to resist and overcome the loss of the critical and transforming capacity of art in a context in which art has begun to succumb and dissolve in an aesthetic ether.
