Abstract

The theme of the symbolic institution runs throughout Richir’s work. Our aim is to question the register in which objects are identified, evaluated, compared and structured according to the way each of them is accounted for or considered as this thing as such. The sphere of the symbolic is essential in order to understand the experience of thinking as an intertwining of the symbolic and of the phenomenological. The question of the symbolic also opens new directions towards a phenomenology of animality. It finally provides, after Husserl, efficacious means to think what one might call the contemporary “crisis of meaning” of which de-‐‑symbolization, according to Richir, is an essential part.
