Abstract

On the basis of an examination of some key concepts in recent contributions to philosophical anthropology –the “double movement” at the core of Fichte’s theory of subjectivity that characterizes what J.‐C. Goddard calls “hysterical station” (thereby using an original figure of “reflexivity”); “reflection” as described by H. Blumenberg as an “anthropological factum,” and, finally, M. Richir’s descent beneath the gnoseology/ontology divide in his reformulation of phenomenology–, the author outlines the foundations for a phenomenological anthropology articulated around the “imaging” faculty. To that end, he clarifies three dimensions of this faculty that characterizes “homo imaginans.”
