Pelayo Pérez García (1947-2025)
We remember: Pelayo Pérez García was born in Mieres, in 1947, and his first drive was literary, but above all poetic and Nictálope (Gráficas Oviedo, 1980) his footprint. It is time for his commitment to Gustavo Bueno's philosophy and to the Asturian Society of Philosophy (SAF). His own research, always in concert with the rest, leads him to pose problems within the system of philosophical materialism, one of whose milestones is his intervention, then article, «The body as an argument» defended in Congress Philosophy and Body: Debates around Gustavo Bueno's Thought (2003). It is also the mark of his research in the field of phenomenology, by Husserl, but above all by non-standard phenomenology and, more specifically, by Marc Richir. Consequences and parallels between whose meshes the common project of Eikasía, Revista de Filosofía ¾together with Ricardo Sánchez Ortiz de Urbina, Alberto Hidalgo Tuñón, Fernando Pérez Herranz, Román García Fernández, Silverio Sánchez Corredera and Luis Álvarez Falcón¾ were born. Within it: translations and the introduction of Marc Richir's thought in Spain through, also, the organization of a seminar with the Belgian phenomenologist on the re-foundation of phenomenology at the Faculty of Philosophy of Oviedo (Asturias, 2010) organized by the SAF. And in this way of reciprocal reflection between philosophical and phenomenological materialism (Sánchez Ortiz de Urbina) he continued sailing (there his excellent «Bueno versus Richir», in Eikasía, No. 115, of 2023) under the Sun of the real, nictalope. We distinguish his written footprint, not only in literature magazines that are difficult to find today, but also in the newspaper El Comercio from Gijón, where he worked as a worldly philosopher, shoulder to shoulder with Alberto Hidalgo, for two years; in El Catoblepas: Critical Magazine of the Present (between 2002 and 2005) and, above all, in which one of his most successful projects, Eikasía, Magazine of Philosophy, resulted
The tribute, the call
Death can be a reason for remembrance, but also for celebration, a project for the present and the future, for a philosopher like Pelayo Pérez García nothing more appropriate than to continue the rationalist path in which he insisted. We call on our readers to present papers for the tribute number we plan to publish in September 2025. Free-themed, publishing rules are accessible on our page. We invite you, however, to deepen the interests of our partner.
We make a special appeal to all the students, teachers, colleagues and research staff who had a relationship with their life, their work and their passion for philosophy and phenomenology, especially colleagues from the French, Portuguese, Belgian and German areas. We believe that it would be especially important that all those who knew him, both in the meetings with Marc Richir, in La Roche Giron, in Coimbra, or in Germany, contribute to enriching this tribute. Although we reiterate its open character for all those who share their passion for philosophy, in any of its facets. Contributions to this extraordinary issue will be published in both French, Portuguese, English or German (also in Italian and Spanish). You can consult the editing rules in our magazine and have the reception date of July 31, 2025. Together we will remember.
