Abstract
This text discusses how the Spanish philosopher in exile in Mexico, José Gaos (1900-1969), considered the Spanish-American philosophy, and even the American continent itself, are places of «utopia» ―but not ucronia― because that both transcendent-religious and immanent-philosophical traditions as the European, have made America the end result of a philosophy of history, instead of the ideal future of philosophy ―and, ultimately, humanity.
