Abstract
This article entitles a revision of the concept of mexicanity (la mexicanidad) in Jose Vasconcelos as part of the identitarian debate in Mexico. The article dwells in Vasconcelos’ assessment of the historical racial mixture visà-vis racial homogeneity as confrontation to social Darwinism. This analysis states that the complex Vasconcelian debate triggered a positive self-awareness of crossbreeding and racial diversity in Mexican identitarian speech.
