Abstract
This fragment, translated into Spanish for the first time, belongs to chapter IX of Reason in Common Sense, first book of The Life of Reason, 5 vols. (1905-6). The Spanish/North-American philosopher Jorge/George Santayana (Madrid, 1862-Rome, 1953) addresses the relationship between mind and brain from his particular materialist naturalism, which has fully assumed the Darwinian intellectual revolution. He analyzes the experience of conscious action very accurately.
