Abstract
In this contribution of mine on the occasion of the hundred years of Edith Stein's accession to the Catholic Church, I wish to re-propose extracts from my last book that I have dedicated to her: Assonanze e dissonanze. Dal Diario di Edith Stein (Mimesis, Milan, 2021), in which I go back through her entire human and intellectual existence, imagining having found a diary of hers, which I have reconstructed based on her history of a Jewish family, her epistolary, in particular the one he holds with Roman Ingarden and his works. Since the book has been written during the period of the pandemic in which in Italy we were forced to stay at home from March to May 2020, I intertwined my diary of those long days with that of Edith Stein. I show here some pages extracted from chapter V dedicated to his conversion and I show in parallel his spiritual and intellectual path: what happened in his soul and how that was reflected in his books, in particular, the «secret writing» on religion, Liberty and Grace, and her Introduction to philosophy.
