Abstract

The present work intends to carry out an analysis of

the concept of dance (Tanz) in Thus spoke

Zarathustra by F. Nietzsche. From the main figure

of Zarathustra, as a guiding thread, we will try to

give an account of the importance of dance, music

and singing in its first stage of intellectual

emancipation. After Nietzsche frustration and

rupture with Wagnerian music and Schopenhauer

philosophy, Zarathustra character will try, like a

child, dance on morals and play with values. Dance

acquires a direct connection with the free spirit, the

artist and the will to power in its struggle against

suicide and heaviness. Thus, the dance becomes a

concept of vital importance.
