Aspects around "transhumanism": perspectives from the Nietzschean concept of Übermensch

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to offer a contrast and subsequent analysis about some terminological questions in relation to what has been called «transhumanism» as a transit towards «post- humanism». For this, we will seek to justify that, in the «transhumanist» project, there is an initial genesis that could be evidenced from some philosophical consider-ations that have emerged from the philosophy of F. Nietzsche. However, we will verify that this relationship is only propaedeutic or initiatory. Finally, we must consider that the perspectives of «transhumanism» are not those of the Nietzschean Übermensch. To corroborate the statement set out, discrepant elements will be ob-served, especially in the plane referred to the human experience in relation to pain and death. Understanding these as a necessary condition of man and not as a defective quality that should be annulled or corrected.
