Abstract

The return of language is linked to the disappearance of man. The death of man proclaimed by Foucault is in close relationship with the death of God pro-claimed by Nietzsche. The last man has killed God and now has to respond of his own finitude. Foucault's work draws a critical history of thought and Foucault's skepticism is a critique of knowledge. Foucault doubted of the truths of each era and of the timesless truths. In this article I present man's journey in Foucault's work and I show that Foucault's skepti-cism becomes an important tool in his critique of knowledge.
