Abstract
This text introduces the monographic dossier «Dino Formaggio’s aesthetics in Italy», produced through collaboration between Eikasía and the University of Milan. It highlights Formaggio’s intellectual, educational, political, and artistic significance within twentieth-century European philosophy and reconstructs the context of Antonio Banfi’s school. The five bilingual studies examine his intellectual trajectory, the relationship between action and matter, artistic technique, and phenomenological aesthetics. Through references to Hegel, Husserl, Heidegger, Merleau-Ponty, and Dufrenne, the volume places Formaggio’s thought within debates concerning art, aesthetic experience, embodiment, and making, while documenting a decisive period in the development of modern Italian philosophy and European intellectual history.
