Abstract

The review examines Silvana Gabriela Di Camillo’s study of Aristotle’s criticism of Plato’s theory of Ideas. Drawing on the reconstruction of the treatise De ideiis and an analysis of the Metaphysics, the book presents Aristotle as a historian of philosophy and emphasizes the methodological role of dialectic. Its four chapters address the objections to Ideas, the more rigorous arguments, ontological separation, and Aristotle’s response to the problem of universals. Ignacio Pérez Constanzó praises the work’s interpretive caution, specialized knowledge, careful use of sources, updated bibliography, and useful indexes. He ultimately regards it as a solid and comprehensive study distinguished by impeccable writing.
