Abstract

The nature of the inner experience of the living has been ignored within the scientific description of human behavior. Today, however, autopoiesis as a paradigm of self- organization, has continued to incorporate those first glimpses of the inner living experience that Kant developed in the third Critique. There is no organism without teleology and there is no teleology without this inner living experience, he tells us, and without a teleological segment the total project of morality becomes unintelligible. There is a change from an ethics based on the categorical imperative to a morality without a concept based on another aspect of the categorical imperative present in Kantian aesthetics. With F.Varela a paradigm shift arises that shows itself in the precedence of the concrete and in the opposition to any deliberate and intentional analysis. These features were already present in Kant and in Husserl as the change from the exterior to the interior, giving way to the exclusion of any law or principle and to the power of intuitive evidence. The importance of pre-conscious drives and instincts are recognized for which I added an Appendix. This path gave rise to the ultimate experiences of the sublime and to the universal ethical epoche, which, according to N. Depraz, a French philosopher who specialized in Husserl, has nothing mysterious or esoteric although it is far from being self-evident.
