Abstract

This article critically reviews Carbone’s Ultra. Aristocrazia tecnofinanziaria, capitalismo mafioso e fascismo globale (2025). The book interprets fascism as a recurring possibility within contemporary capitalism and structures its analysis around «mafia capitalism», the «techno-financial aristocracy», and emotional capture. The review places these theses in dialogue with critical theory, political philosophy, and affect studies. While emphasizing the book’s ability to connect economy, subjectivity, and politics, it also identifies theoretical problems arising from the broad use of the concept of fascism and from a certain idealization of the emancipatory subject.
