Abstract
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) into contemporary medicine has redefined the field of healthcare risk management, presenting both unique opportunities and specific limitations. This paper explores the fundamental role of patient engagement in the identification, assessment, and mitigation of health risks in the age of AI. From an epistemological perspective, it highlights the capacity of citizens to detect emerging risks and contribute valuable experiences that enrich decision-making processes. On the axiological level, it examines the limitations of AI in incorporating ethical and cultural values, emphasizing the importance of prudence, deliberation, and adaptation to diverse contexts—areas in which technology still cannot replace human sensitivity. Finally, from a praxeological standpoint, the paper analyzes both the strengths of AI in empowering patients and its philosophical and technical limitations, particularly regarding the holistic understanding of the patient’s condition. The study concludes that risk management in the digital era requires a balanced integration between technology and citizen participation.
